What is Cannabidiol?
Cannabidiol is one of the most exciting and important cannabinoids that we are aware of today.
Cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBC, CBN, THC-A, THCV, CBG, CBD-A, CBDV) are the naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis that are responsible for the myriad of effects that cannabis provides to users.
Also known as CBD, cannabidiol is transforming from a little-known cannabinoid long shunned by the cannabis community, to a breakthrough nutritional component and wellness supplement that could benefit everyone. Becoming a household name after a series of media reports on its amazing benefits, CBD use is building as more and more people look to take advantage of its effects.
CBD is found throughout the seeds, stalk, and flowers of cannabis plants. Unlike many of the 100+ cannabinoids that we are currently aware of, cannabidiol naturally occurs in significant quantities in cannabis, so it is easily extracted from the plant in the form of cannabis oil.
Once extracted as a constituent of cannabis oil, CBD can be processed into many products like liquids and capsules or further isolated from the oil, purifying it to its crystalline form. Products made from CBD-rich cannabis oil can be found on the shelves of medical marijuana dispensaries, in health food and wellness stores, and online from a range of retailers.
How Much CBD Should I Take?
It is important to note that CBD Hemp Oil products are, by FDA guidelines, to be treated as food supplements. CBD is a naturally occurring compound that is non-toxic, like a vitamin. There is no right or wrong answer to this question.
However, WEIGHT & CONDITION are to be considered when dosing yourself and feeling out the best starting dose for YOU.
We suggest a starting dose for beginners at 10MG - 15MG of CBD.
What is the difference between a tincture and any other product you might carry (such as capsules, edibles, topicals)?
A tincture is taken sublingually (under the tongue) commonly in an oil-based form that contains hemp extract and any other beneficial natural essential oils / extracts. The benefits of purchasing a tincture over anything else are: long timespan of usage (potent, and you can customize your doses based on your preference), fast-acting and long lasting internal pain/anxiety relief, dual use as a topical to rub into the skin depending on type of oil, etc.
How do I dose a tincture?
- We suggest a starting dose for beginners at 10MG - 15MG of CBD.
- Tincture doses are commonly marked with lines on the 1ML dropper in quarters: 0.25ml | 0.50ml | 0.75ml | and 1.0ml.
- Doses are based on the POTENCY of the ENTIRE BOTTLE (-- A bottle of 1000mg of CBD is more potent than a 500mg bottle). Divide total milligrams of bottle by ML size of bottle. (1000mg / 30ml = 33.3mg CBD per dropper)
For example, if a particular bottle contained 1000mg of CBD tincture. Normally, bottles have a 1ML dropper. This will equal to about 33MG.
Therefore, one starting dose of 10mg will be around the 1/4th (0.25ml) mark.
Does CBD come from hemp/cannabis only?
CBD is typically extracted from hemp, but CBD naturally occurs in many different plants – even pine trees!
I’m nervous to try CBD. My body is sensitive and/or other medications don’t work for my pain/ailment. How reliable is CBD? Can I overdose? Are there any side effects?
No, you cannot overdose on CBD. Think of CBD as a natural herb, vitamin, root, or vegetable (if you are taking spinach for your health, how could you possibly go overboard?) The only side effect known so far is a just a slight drowsiness if one were to take over their custom normal dose. If you are nervous about your starting dose, go ahead and start with as little as you need. Your body will thank you!
What is the difference between hemp, marijuana, and cannabis?
This is a popular dispute. The terms “marijuana” and “cannabis” usually refer to the plants that are specifically bred for HIGH THC levels. The term “hemp” describes a plant from the same plant family but is bred specifically for LOW (.3%) THC content, resulting in higher CBD content. Everything in our store catalog is extracted from hemp only. There are two kinds of extractions: Full spectrum & CBD isolate.
What is the difference between Full Spectrum and isolated CBD extraction?
Full spectrum extraction is a type of extraction which pulls ALL of the available cannabinoids from the hemp plant (CBD, THC, CBC, CBN, THC-A, THC-V, CBG, CBD-A, CBDV, etc.). All full spectrum products from CBD Hemp Store DO NOT go over the legal limit of .3% THC. Most of our products contain 0% THC. THC is fat-soluble. If you are worried about THC accumulating in your body, we highly recommend purchasing a CBD-isolate product. CBD isolate is purified CBD that has been extracted from the plant and isolated from the other cannabinoids.
